I'm Ellis Henican on Bloomberg Radio. If baldness doesn't matter, how come so few baldies serve in Congress? How come, through centuries of literature, hair equaled virility? I've been reading a fascinating new book, "Hair: Mankind's Historic Quest to End Baldness." In hilarious detail, Gersh Kuntzman chronicles the ridiculous road that men have traveled to defend and protect their precious manes. All those drugs, plugs and rugs. But now, Kuntzman says, we are entering man's golden age of hair. Propecia actually saves the stuff that's growing. Modern transplants are amazingly hard to detect. Forget about those guys who voluntarily shave their heads. Usually, they were going bald anyway. So why do I keep checking myself in the mirror? What am I so concerned about? I wouldn't worry about something so obviously unimportant. Wait, you don't think my hairline's going back? With "Second Thoughts," I'm Newsday columnist Ellis Henican on Bloomberg Radio.
